Our Cottage, Maison des Vignes

Maison des Vignes, named after the grapevines that grow above its sunny terrace, is situated in the grounds of Le Manoir du Bois Mignon. A detached and fully self-contained cottage that is more than 250 years old. Originally the guardian’s house for the estate, Maison des Vignes provides well equipped but authentic French accommodation in stunning and peaceful surroundings, overlooking beautiful grounds and the Dordogne river.

The cottage was renovated in 2020 and features a modern, fully equipped kitchen, contemporary bathroom and separate WC. Maison des Vignes boasts a mix of antique and modern furnishings, beamed ceilings, original terracotta tile floors, window shutters, large working Perigordian fireplace and even an original stone wash basin which have all been retained. The spacious accommodation on 1 flat level extends to 125 Square metres, and sleeps 4-6 people in 2 bedrooms (additional single beds can be put into bedrooms or living area by prior arrangement)

The heart of the cottage is its large open plan living/dining room. This is a hugely sociable space and a cool place away from the heat of the summer sun. The rest of the accommodation comprises of 2 elegantly furnished double bedrooms both with king sized beds. Outside on the terrace are both lounging and alfresco dining areas, large BBQ and comfy sun loungers. Guests have shared use of a stunning pool and 2 acres of mature grounds with its many, centuries old trees.

Everything has been perfect. What a magnificent place; the buildings, the garden, the swimming pool. Very comfortable, beautiful decoration, impeccable cleanliness, very well equipped.

Maison des Vignes in the garden is simply wonderful, a beautiful large dining room with a fireplace, a practical kitchen with lots of equipment and accessories, a practical bathroom with tub and shower and two romantic bedrooms in which you can sleep in absolute peace and on very comfortable mattresses. The beautiful garden in front of the door gives you space in the sun or in the tree shade as you like.

Cozy holiday home and fully furnished, the hosts are very hospitable and helpful. We had a lovely meal and our dog was also warmly welcomed. We have made beautiful walks in the area.
