Also, situated in Le Manoir’s 2 acres of grounds, is Maison des Vignes, named after the grapevines that grow above its terrace, offering shade from the Summer Sun. Maison des Vignes is a beautiful 250 year old traditional French cottage and properties share a stunning pool and romantic grounds in which to relax and soak up the French summer sunshine.
Le Manoir and Maison des Vignes are truly magnificent and unique properties which have been lovingly restored by their owners in recent years. Featuring a wealth of original period features including large open fireplaces, exposed beams, marble floors and exposed stone walls typical of the area. Le Manoir and Maison des Vignes are furnished with traditional French pieces but blended with contemporary twists. All guest suites in Le Manoir are equipped to a superbly high standard and feature all modern conveniences including super king-sized beds, luxury bed linen, large walk-in showers, heated towel rails and luxury toiletries. The signature, ‘Amelia’ suite has 3 rooms and extends to more than 70 square metres boasting a stunning and indulgent free-standing bathtub in its bedroom area.
Maison des Vignes retains the rustic charm of a bygone age, including old beams, the traditional terracotta floor, original stone wash basin and beautiful working Perigordian fireplace. This mixes seamlessly with all modern conveniences including fast broadband access, modern kitchen and bathroom and a lovely outdoor terrace for alfresco dining and lazy afternoons in the sun.
Outside, the mature grounds and stunning pool with waterfall feature extend to two acres with centuries old trees offering shade and ample space to relax and unwind. There are several terraces dotted around the grounds with comfortable seating areas and tables. Also available for guests who prefer to be more active are bicycles to rent, a table tennis, pool, French petanque and a traditional English dart board in our outdoor ‘pub’ area. There is also a terrace with deck chairs and beautiful views of the Dordogne river where the owners have recently built an enclosure for their chickens who provide hours of fun for guests young and old as well as a plentiful supply of delicious fresh eggs for the kitchen!
Breakfasts, dinners, lite bites and chilled local wines are usually enjoyed ‘alfresco’ by the pool during the Summer and in the guest dining room and salon in front of a roaring fire, accompanied by a glass or two of warming local red wine in Winter.
